Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, Others Support KATH With 100 Hospital Beds

adminBy adminJanuary 30, 2023Updated:February 1, 2023

By Alex Ababio

A Flagbearer Hopeful for the New Patriotic Party and the Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has paid USD 147,000 to the management
of the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital ,KATH,
as his contribution to help maintain the linear accelerator; a cancer treatment plant at the Oncology department of the Hospital in Kumasi.

The plant’s renewal fee of USD 147,000 is a gesture Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has committed himself to every year to ensure the facility is kept active in the fight against cancer related diseases.

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong also donated 100 modern hospital beds worth GHC 365,000.00 to the hospital to help improve on quality health care delivery at the hospital.

The Oncology Directorate at the KATH specializes in providing cancer care to patients in areas ranging from primary, secondary, and tertiary care.

The Directorate provides Outpatient services which includes Haematology, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology Services.

Inspecting the device at the hospital on Monday, the MP for Assin Central promised to pay the medical bill of GHs 5000 of a 70-year old breast cancer patient Madam Akua Serwaa who is a resident of Adiebeba.

Speaking to some cancer expert and doctors of the hospital, the Philanthropic MP and businessman indicated that he was motivated to assist the hospital to provide quality health care to the people in the region and the country at large because he remembered in 1968 he was brought to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment after he lost two of his teeth in accident .

He further mentioned that some time ago he was admitted to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment because he was afflicted with Appendix .
” All that i’m saying is that you will never know where you will fall sick .So if you think you’re living in Accra and don’t care about challenges facing Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital ,you might travel to Kumasi and get yourself attacked with a sickness .
So as a citizens of this country we should endeavor to contribute to solve problems confronting the country irrespective of the region where the problem is . ”

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong noted : ” Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has been a central location where a lot of referrals are brought to for further treatment. ”

He urged Ghanaians to refrain from plying politics with their health .

He was full of praise for some Ghanaians who contributed to raise about Ghc 97,000 as part of Ghc 365,000.00 to provide 100 hospital beds to the hospital.

Addressing the cancer patients, Hon Kennedy recalled how a relative of his worsened the condition of her breast cancer when she ignored his advise to seek for medical treatment.

He noted that his relative instead of visiting a health center for treatment sought for a spiritual remedy from the late T.B Joshua and ended up worsening the situation.

He, therefore, urged the patients to have confidence in medical officers since God has endowed them with knowledge to treat diseases.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital , the Head of Nurses Mrs Georgina Effua Sam thanked Hon. Kennedy Agyapong for his kind gesture and his contribution to the management of the hospital.
