Obiri Foundation Provides Free Health Screening For 1000 People In Nhyieso

adminBy adminDecember 18, 2022Updated:December 23, 2022

Obiri Foundation, a charitable organisation (NGO) working in the area of health education, and social services has organised a free health screening for the people in the Nhyieso Constituency in the Greater Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The health screening which was organised for three consecutive weekends in communities including South Suntreso,Patasi,
Fankyenebra,Santasi, Ahodwo ,Atasomanso and Daban saw a number of people close to thousand(1000) screened for Hipatitis Diabetes, Malaria, Hypertension among other ailments.

People whose medical conditions required further clinical diagnoses and treatment were referred to specialized health facilities.

The Executive Director of Obiri Foundation, Mr Stephen Obiri Yeboah speaking to Ghanaian Watch on the sideline of the health screening
at Daban Ahebronum , suggested the need for Government to restructure Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to pave way for integration of free health screening and other medical check-up to improve its national health care.

He noted that the inclusion of free health screening into the scheme would help improve access to health care ,thereby encouraging the citizenry to know their health status to prevent untimely death .

Mr Stephen Obiri Yeboah , a social worker and a community development activist , noted that as part of his work, he realised that there are huge number of Ghanaians who do not have the means to go for health screening and thus his organization consider the need to provide free health screening for them.

He noted that it was important they took that initiative to give free access to the people, especially the needy to improve their health and thus called on the government to include free screening in the National Health Insurance Scheme Policy .

” What i would suggest to the government or policy makers is that they should put health screening as a major and important component under the National Health Insurance to prevent sudden death ”

He used the opportunity to appeal to other benevolent organizations and individuals to assist them to organize such free health care to the people , especially those living in the poor communities in the country.
