Foundation, Mrs Esther Matey has lashed out at Ghanaian Men for increasing trend of nudity of young women on social media in the country.
She stressed that the young women would stop stripping themselves naked, and posting their private parts on social media if those men who patronize their nudity stop following them or refrain from watching their naked videos.
“When she exposes her private part you will go and watch, but if there is nobody to watch it will she do it ?”
She therefore called on people, particularly men who patronize the nudity of these so-called celebrities to stop.
Mrs Esther Matey, however, urged young women to shun attitude where they keep on exposing their nudity on the social media, and strive harder to invest in themselves to make positive impact in society.
“You can’t celebrate your achievement with nudity. No, You should have some values.”
She reiterated that it was wrong for society to cherish and sell nudity, stressing that society should rather value people especially intellectual and successful women in the country who have left legacies for young girls to emulate.
“ We have all these intellectual and successful women like Professor Akua Akuenyehia who have left legacies for young girls to emulate, but nobody is recognizing them. We should throw light on these women. How are we celebrating them nobody is recognizing them , but we call these young women who are exposing their nakedness celebrities.”, she stressed.
Mrs Esther Matey made this remark in an interview with Ghanaianwatch.com after a sensitization workshop for women as part of activities to mark this year’s Mother’s Day. The workshop which was organized by No Business As Usual, NBU, project in collaboration with SOS Children’s Village,Ghana and Asokore Mampong Municipality under the sponsorship of European Union brought together women from various communities in Kumasi.
Mrs Esther Matey admonished parents especially mothers to inculcate social intelligence and other important values in their children, particularly their girl child to enable them to become good citizens.
A Lecturer at Department of Catering and Hospitality of Appiah Menkah University of Skills and Entrepreneur Development, Mrs Nafisah Salem charged Government to implement a policy backed by social development programs to train women, especially those in the Zongo communities to enable them to acquire life skills to significantly impact sufficient knowledge in their children.
She stated that this is necessary to ensure that parents, particularly mothers play an effective role in their children’s lives.
Mrs Nafisah Salem bemoaned the increasing trend of fragile social structure at zongo communities which has culminated into producing recalcitrant young people who are mostly involved in social misfit activities, such as armed robbery.
She, therefore, urged the government to invest in the training of Muslim mothers to enable them play a greater and effective role in their children’s lives.
Mrs Nafisah Salem encouraged women to determine to make impact in the society by ensuring that they resist the negative influence which is meted out to them by the society.
The Ashanti regional Director for SOS Children’s Village, Mr Bernard Amoako stressed the need for women to begin equal opportunity in all sectors of the country’s economy to enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of Ghana.
