Benevolent Police Officer who doubles as the Chief Executive of Sharp Herbs, the producer of IMBOST Herbal Mixture, Mr Stephen Kwame Nyarko a.k.a. Police Nii No N’aduro No has donated several pieces of streetlights and solar lights to communities that are not hooked unto the national grid to the entire Tapa Traditional Area in the Biakoye District of Oti region.
He also presented sporting kits, including footballs and a set of Jersey to schools in the community.
Presenting the items at a durbar of Chiefs, District authorities including the Biakoye District Chief Executive, Hon. Comfort Akua Ataa, Christians and Muslims communities , school pupils and people from the area, Mr Stephen Kwame Nyarko who is also the Executive Director of Sharp Foundation, expressed his commitment to continually support development of Tapa.
He mentioned in particular furnishing of the Tapaman Senior High Technical School’s computer lab with 40 computer desks, installation of air-condition at the school’s computer lab which his foundation provided last year for the school.
The rest of provisions his foundation made to the Tapa Community last year, included sporting kits and equipment such as footballs, jerseys, volleyball net and provision of internet router, Projector, LED and flat screen TVs to the technical school.
He also made a number of donations such as ceiling fans, Flat Screen LED TVs, Sporting materials including Jerseys, footballs among others to Tapa Breniase D/A Primary School, and Tapa Amanfrom D/A JHS
Speaking to Ghanaian Watch in an interview during the durbar, Mr Stephen Kwame Nyarko
expressed ‘grave concern about the slow pace of development in their community.
He mentioned in particular deplorable state of road networks saying this has impeded socio-economic development in the area.
Mr Stephen Kwame Nyarko who is also a Police Officer made their concerns known with issues concerning lack of classroom infrastructural facilities in the various schools in the community especially Tapa Appiahkrom D/A Primary School.
He noted that Tapa Traditional area which is a farming community in the Biakoye District lacks infrastructural development in terms of good road networks, school blocks and health infrastructural facilities.
Mr Stephen Kwame Nyarko , therefore, appealed to Government through the Biakoye District Assembly to help step up development in the area.
He bemoaned the deplorable nature of road between Awukunya and Tapa in the Biakoye District which has been riddled with potholes causing vehicles plying the road broken down as the majority of them usually got stuck in the middle of the roads preventing movement of food stuffs transported to the urban centers from the communities.
He further urged the Government to establish a factory to check urban migration of young people in the community.
Other residents and natives expressed their frustration about lack of development in the community.
A teacher at Tapa Appiahkrom , Madam Kumi Rebecca appealed to Ghana education service in the district to respond to their appeal regarding a death trap school building which urgently needed to be renovated to prevent any unfortunate incident and help facilitate teaching and learning in the school.
The District Director of Education, Mrs Roseline Kafui Ofori who claimed she recently posted to the district assured that her outfit would be going familiarization tour to assess infrastructural deficit in schools in the area to recommend to the District Assembly to make adequate provision for such facilities.
She, however, applauded Mr Stephen Kwame Nyarko for such benevolent assistants to Schools in the community and thus implored others to emulate the gestures.
Responding to calls by the people to address developmental challenges in the area, the Chief Executive for Biakoye District, Mrs Comfort Akua Ataa pledged the New Patriotic Party Government’s commitment to raise the living standards of the people in the district by responding adequately to their developmental needs.
She noted that most of the bad roads have been awarded on contact and works would soon be carried out on them to make those roads motorable.
Mrs Comfort Akua Ataa further reiterated that even though the region is very young the government was poised to bring development to the area including constructing new school blocks for those deprived schools.
