adminBy adminJune 10, 2025

Ghana’s Minister for Communications, Samuel George, has announced that all telecom providers in the country will implement increases in data bundle packages, effective from July 1, 2025.

The announcement was made during a press briefing held in Accra today, where the Minister shared outcomes of recent discussions with telecom executives.

“I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs has resulted in the following specific measures,” Mr. George said.

Here are the new data allocations by network:

AirtelTigo Ghana (AT Ghana):

10% boost to all data bundle packages

GH₵400 bundle raised from 195GB to 236GB

Telecel Ghana:

10% increase on all data bundles

GH₵400 bundle now offers 250GB, up from 90GB

MTN Ghana:

15% data increment across all bundle categories

Reintroduction of the GH₵399 package with 214GB (previously adjusted to GH₵350 for 92.88GB)

Mr. George acknowledged the cost implications for telecom companies, stating, “I am aware these increases will come at considerable cost to the network operators.”

He continued, “However, I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people.”

The Minister also extended his appreciation to the CEOs of the telecom firms for their willingness to cooperate, describing the development as a sign of strengthening collaboration between government and industry stakeholders.

This move is part of a broader strategy to expand digital access and ensure better value in Ghana’s telecommunications landscape.
