Bullet Scars Reveal Past: Arrested Key Suspect in Ablekuma Robbery Incident Found with Telling Injuries

adminBy adminJuly 16, 2023

The Aflao District Police Command successfully apprehended a key suspect involved in the tragic bullion Van robbery at  Ablekuma, in  Togo.

According to law enforcement sources, on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at approximately 7:00 am, the Aflao District Police Command received intelligence indicating that one of the suspects in the bullion van robbery case in Ablekuma had been sighted at the Asigame market in Lome, Togo.

Acting upon this information, District Crime Officer DSP Eric Vondee led Inspector Gabriel Damadzi, Martin Afari Koranteng, and Corporal Issah Ayamba to Asigame market in Lome, Togo. With the assistance of the Togo Interpol, they successfully apprehended the suspect, Blessing Njoma, a Nigerian national.

A search of the suspect at the scene yielded no incriminating evidence.

The suspect was then transported to the Togo Interpol Headquarters, where a subsequent search revealed old bullet scars on his right shoulder.

The suspect claimed to have sustained these injuries in a fight in Nigeria back in 2014.

The police are currently working towards searching the suspect’s place of residence before extraditing him to Ghana.

Meanwhile, today marked the burial of Callistus Amoah, the police officer who tragically lost his life during the robbery.

The Police Administration posthumously promoted him, elevating his rank from Lance Corporal to General Corporal effective from June 22, 2023.

The promotion was announced during a pre-burial service held at St. George Catholic Church in Tesano, Accra, on the morning of Friday, July 14, as a tribute to the fallen officer.

General Corporal Callistus Amoah was fatally wounded during a bullion van robbery at a fuel filling station in Ablekuma on June 22, 2023.

The attack occurred when the bullion van made a stop at the fuel station, likely to refuel or collect cash.

It was during this moment that the assailants launched their assault on the vehicle.

Fortunately, the driver of the van managed to escape unharmed.

Several suspects have reportedly been arrested and presented before the court.
