“This Could Have Been My Funeral”—Kofi Adoma Expresses Disappointment Over Neglect

Ghanaian journalist Kofi Adomah has expressed his deep disappointment in Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, for failing to check on him following a severe eye injury he suffered while covering the chief’s 25th-anniversary celebration.
Addressing the media in Berekum on March 14, 2025, Adomah recounted the painful ordeal he endured after the accident, stating that despite receiving support from figures like Dr. Kwaku Oteng and businessman Ibrahim Mahama, the Dormaahene has yet to reach out.
According to him, while he does not expect financial assistance, he had hoped for at least a phone call from the revered traditional leader.
“I am not saying this because I expect financial help,” he said. “But a simple call from my king would have shown that he cares about what happened to me.”
Overcome with emotion, Adomah admitted that seeing the large gathering at the press conference, many of whom were dressed in red and black, made him realize how close he had come to tragedy.
“This could have been my funeral,” he said, his voice heavy with emotion.
The journalist sustained the injury in December 2024 while covering the Dormaa Kwafie Festival in Dormaa Ahenkro. A firearm discharged during the event, striking him in the face and causing serious damage to his eye.
