Mr. Edward Moukala, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) representative to Ghana, has called on members of Africa’s diaspora to take advantage of the continent’s evolving business opportunities.
He explained that contrary to the widespread belief among the diaspora that Africa lacks opportunities, there are several emerging transformative projects waiting to be explored.
Speaking at the launch of the second cohort of the *Entrepreneurship with Bola Ray* program, he emphasized:
“I want to appeal to the diasporan community to see the transformational projects that are currently occurring on the continent, including the AfCFTA. I want to invite the diasporan community to the continent to come and explore business opportunities that would engineer economic growth. I am appealing to the diasporan community that the Africa they knew in the past is not the Africa now,” he stated.
The *Entrepreneurship with Bola Ray* initiative is a pioneering program designed to support and empower the next wave of Ghanaian entrepreneurs.
The second cohort consists of 15 entrepreneurs working in various industries, including food processing, poultry, technology, and agro-processing.
These participants will receive mentorship from experienced business leaders such as UNESCO’s Mr. Edward Moukala N’ Gouemo, Mr. Jeffery Sowah, and Dr. Daniel Moses.
Mr. Moukala also stressed the need for effective policies to help unlock the continent’s entrepreneurial potential. He urged policymakers to create robust entrepreneurial frameworks that would nurture and sustain such initiatives.
He further highlighted that African nations could reach similar levels of development as their European counterparts, stating that artificial intelligence could play a key role in narrowing the developmental gap between Africa and other parts of the world.
Mr. Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, also known as Bola Ray, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the first cohort of entrepreneurs, and stated that the second group promises to be even more impactful. He added that the mentors are eager to provide valuable guidance and innovative business strategies to the participants.
