The former Greater Accra regional Minister Hon. Nii Armah Ashittey has announced his intention to vie for the national chairmanship position of National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The National Delegates Congress is scheduled for November or latest by December this year.

Speaking to Ghanaian Watch news, the former Greater Accra regional minister who has also served as mayor for Tema city, lawyer Nii Armah Ashittey stated categorically that he has more than what it takes to be a national chairman of the NDC.

Hon. Nii Armah Ashittey who has gone through almost all the ranks of the NDC party, stressed : “It’s always a honour to serve your country, and is not about money, rather service to the people.”

Hon. Nii Armah Ashittey hinted that he has served in the various capacities within the party and the country and it has got to a point that the experience he has acquired should be shared with others and want to share with the NDC party at the national level.

Hon. Lawyer Nii Armah Ashittey former MP for Klotey Krowo Constituency said his records revealed that he’s grassroot person who started from Cafe Branch in Osu as branch chairman, Klotey Korle Constituency as chairman whiles serving as a member of Parliament for Klotey Krowo Constituency.

Against this backdrop, he reiterated nothing can stop him from contesting for the national championship position.

According to Hon. Lawyer Nii Armah Ashittey he has the qualification, competence, as well as experience to occupy the highest position of the NDC national chairmanship position.

” Is all about the progress of our party, nothing more. Winning 2024, for me should be the ultimate anybody who wants to contest should have at the back of his mind and not just coming to occupy position. I’m coming to work not as an individual but as team collectively ,we can achieve a common goal” Hon Nii Ashittey hinted.

He further stated Ghanaians will not forgive NDC if they fail to win 2024 elections.

He said the NDC will have no excuse or whatsoever if they fail to win 2024 elections .” It is not about stealing of votes, is not about rigging, rather it is about hard work to win the elections , adding ,”I have what it takes to lead the party to win 2024 for Ghanaians, he added

“We need to manage our party and keep everybody on board because everybody is important. This is how we win elections and when we come to power ,we don’t forget about them, because 4-years is like yesterday” Hon Nii Armah Ashittey disclosed.

He noted : “If one lost an election ,it doesn’t mean that it’s the end of his life. Every good leader must creat a vehicle for them all to come together to work and assist.”

He advised delegates in both two major political parties, NPP and NDC to ponder and reflect soberly to see who can serve best interest of their great parties before casting their delegate votes to any contestant who wants to steer the affairs of the party in the country.

He called on the NDC delegates not to make any mistake again to vote for those who can’t help the party to win power coming 2024 general elections.

Hon. Lawyer Nii Armah Ashittey disclosed the heart of the NDC party is the branch where every member started from irrespective of one’s position in the party, saying to contest elections in the party, needs a lot of money and this is what is driving many credible candidates away.

According to him the foundation of the party has now shifted to monetization , insisting that it shouldn’t be so.

He rather called on leadership of the party to initiate a move to create a conducive atmosphere for party members to work for themselves.

Hon. Nii Armah Ashittey noted previously people were having love for the party unlike nowadays where people do place their emphasis on money.

“We use to have foreign allies who used to help the party but now things have changed. What has gone amiss, the money that are being floated over there wasn’t like the past years during Rawlings, Atta Mills and John Mahama’s regime and it’s a problematic” he stressed.
