A New Patriotic Party (NPP), opinion leader in Ashanti Zongo communities and the former Ghana ambassador to Guinea under the President J A Kuffuor’s regime, His Excellency Alhaji Baba has expressed his displeasure about the current leadership style in the party in the region , saying the chairmanship style of the party lacks purpose and direction with no sense of innovation to empower the members.

According to him it is mainly centered on one man show, thus not helping the party’s course in the region.

“We have to add our voice to the call for proper management of the party in the region to the satisfaction of all and sundry to avoid problems during the general election come 2024”, he said.

Speaking to Isaac Nsiah Foster of Ghanaian
Watch News , His Excellency Alhaji Baba Sheriff disclosed the quality of the leadership style as seen today is not the best as compared to the previous ones.

He stressed the NPP Zongo opinion leaders are really scared, adding “the Ashanti region being the heart beat of the party to be in crisis of any magnitude would not augur well for the party in general.”

He further stated the problems have to be addressed within the shortest possible time or be solved to save the party further embarrassment come 2024.

Ambassador Sheriff further stated that the result of 2016 election for instance was the reflection of good work done under the chairmanship of chairman FF Antoh and other executives of which he Ambassador Sheriff was the first Vice chairman working as a team as compared to the current crop of executive with one man show business is a course for concern

He added the drop in percentage from 76.22% to 71.64% in 2016 and 2020 respectively was a true reflection of the job done by the current executives in the region.

According to him recently held elections of polling stations and Constituency executives were marred with confusion all over leading to some Constituencies resorting to the courts of law to seek for redress.

He ,therefore, pleaded and appealed to all who matters most in the party to bring suspended party faithfuls back into the mother NPP.

He stressed they should not allow people to feel cheated and be peeved during an internal elections as that may lead to apathy during the general election as experienced during the last election, adding they don’t want repeat of those mistakes that resulted in difficulties for the party during the 2020 election to resurface it’s head again else breaking the 8 will be a mirage.

” It is this fear that the Zongo opinion leaders is adding its voice to the clarion call to all and sundry to put things in its proper perspectives” he stressed.

Ambassador Sheriff further stated that a situation where some people are fired or suspended for campaigning whiles others are left of the hook for same offences does not augur well for the unity and cohesion with the party.

He pleaded and appealed to all who matters most in the party to bring suspended faithfuls back to the mother NPP, explained that politics is people centered and not necessarily a show of wealth.

Responding to the incumbent Ashanti regional chairman of the party ,Bernard Antwi Boasiako, ambassador S.M. Sheriff reiterated that politics is people centered not necessarily a show of wealth,” if Wuntumi can during an internal election, then for the general election it would be a herculean task to cross.”

He called on the delegates, to ponder and reflect soberly to see who can serve best the interest of their great party before casting their delegate votes to any contestant who wants to steer the affairs of the party in the region.

He advised NPP delegates, “do not earn wealth and loose people, for earning people is a way to earning wealth”
