Delivering his address at the country’s 30th Anniversary of the referendum endorsing the 1992 Constitution, he stated that democratic governance has been significant in all spheres of the nation’s economy and has along these lines been envied by many people, and consequently should be safeguarded.

We have from that point forward [the swearing-in of Jerry John Rawlings in 1993 as First President of the fourth republic] encountered the longest continuous time of stable protected constitutional governance in our history , experiences, banishing the phantoms of instability , with the distorted much of our countries early existence. Furthermore, the advantages are manifesting . We have throughout 30 years experienced sustained growth on each facet of national life. There has been extensive improvement in human development index . Basically, democratic governace has been great as far as we’re concerned.”

President Akufo-Addo demonstrated that there are people among the populace who might need to see the nation backslide in its quest to advance and support the democratic governance in light of multiple factors which should be checked.

“… There are some who for their own parochial and narrow minded interests would need to see a re-visitation of the dark days of dictator rule just in light of the fact that with no regard for the Ghanaian people , they are either reluctant to expose themselves or their visions to the open scrutiny of the Ghanaian people or in light of the fact that they realize they will be dismissed by  Ghanaians and hence look for an alternate way to office or power.”

Allow us to reinforce our determination to oppose such people for our common good” he asked.
