Mr. Samuel Pyne, otherwise known as Sam Pyne has received overwhelming support from the assembly members as they confirmed him as the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Authority.
He polled 53 out of 58 of the valid votes cast representing 94.5%
The nominee who was the former Ashanti regional Secretary for the New Patriotic Party, NPP secured an overwhelming endorsement at the election supervised by the Electoral Commission at Prempeh Assembly Hall, in Kumasi.
According to the official from the Electoral Commission a total of 60 assembly members were expected to cast their votes to confirm the President Nominee , however, he disclosed that two of the members could not turn up to cast their votes because they were under the weather.
After counting of ballot papers, the official from the electoral commission announced that the President nominee secured 55 YES votes, while 3 persons voted NO.
In his acceptance speech , the confirmed Chief Executive for Kumasi Metropolitan Authority , Hon. Samuel Payne reiterated his commitment to work with all the development partners in the Metropolis including traditional leaders to transform Kumasi to it’s original status as Garden City of West Africa .
