You’ll leave the worse legacy –Amoako Tuffour cautions Akufo-Addo

adminBy adminJanuary 1, 2021Updated:January 2, 2021

A leading Member of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Dr Kwame Amoako Tuffour has urged President Akufo Addo not to make any mistake by leaving the office after his term expires in 2024, with NPP going to opposition because the Ashanti’s votes drastically went down due to his government’s failure to supply the people in the region with the required developmental projects.

The Member of Council of Elders reiterated that President Akufo Addo could not afford to leave a legacy where the votes from Ashanti went down and the party went into opposition, stating that could be his worse legacy.

“I’m afraid you’ll go down your grave with lots of sweat and tears and that I believe President Akufo Addo will not let it happen to him”

“You know in this world you may do all kinds of things that you want, but you do one thing and the people will hate you for that.

“ You know Jesus Christ did so many things, fantastic things except when they said King of Jews and everything went bad.

“ This is a mistake Nana Akufo Addo cannot afford to make.

“President Akufo Addo has no choice, the government has no choice than to provide what will pacify the Ashantis for giving him the majority of votes for him to become the President of Ghana.”

He stressed that he would make sure President Akufo Addo and his government does the right thing.

“ I would make sure that we advise him not to make such a mistake. I believe he will listen and respond to the request of the Ashanti people,” he noted.

Dr Kwame Amoako Tuffour , the former National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme made this statement when he spoke to Ghanaian Watch.com after an Annual get to gather thanks giving party he organized for the various groups in the NPP in Kumasi.

The fun fair was organized to show appreciation to the grassroots members of the party for their contribution to the electoral victory which has retained the NPP in power for the next four years.

Dr Amoako Tuffour noted that the opinion leaders and the rank and file of the party in the Ashanti region have been open-minded for far too long in asking the NPP government to provide the people in the region for their fair share of the national cake, but now the youth and the masses have been pushing them for projects like over heads at places like Suame round about and Anlonga junction, and getting Sofoline Inter-Change properly fixed.

“If we were not pushing now the public is pushing us, as opinion leaders the public is pushing us.

“ So we don’t have any choice, but to do what the public that voted to give us a majority of votes are demanding.

“ I know the President will do something solid about it.

“ If the President does not do it or his Minister who is responsible does not do it, well I think the President will leave a legacy of failure on his part when he leaves office.

“I don’t think President Akufo Addo will go out with a legacy that when he came, the votes from Ashanti went down and down, and we were out into opposition.

“ That will be the worse legacy “, he reiterated

He maintained that for fairness in the country’s Democratic and political system, the Ashantis who are the most populous and with numerous minerals resources should be given the right infrastructural development facilities to ensure peace, stability and development.

“The Ashantis are not many by Chance, we are populous, many people. Forget about what Dr Kwame Nkrumah said, the Ahafo, Bono East people are Ashantis. The Nkoransa Chiefs swear allegiance to Otumfour. Go to Accra because the Ashantis are business people they are numerous there.

He , however, did indicate that development must be nationwide spread, stressing that he did not mean that only the Ashanti must be developed.

“What I’m saying is that not only did Ashanti give votes to the NPP to form government or to create a President.

“ Ashanti has gold, lots of minerals resources and its people immensely contribute to the economy.

“We are the most populous, very dynamic group of people.

“I’m not going to talk about the importance of our traditions and cultural heritage that play a significant role in this country’s development”, he stated.

A founding member of Ashanti Congress and an NPP Stewart , Dr Bafour Asafo Agyei who is a Plant Breeder research Scientist also advocated for jobs for teeming unemployed youth in the region and further added his voice for NPP government to execute developmental projects in the region.
