UK Army Veteran Godfred Sarpong, from Ghana, Sentenced to 3 Years for Possession of Child Pornography

adminBy adminMarch 30, 2024

A former member of the UK military, Godfred Sarpong, originally from Ghana, has been sentenced to three years in prison for possessing child pornography.

Sarpong was found in possession of disturbing material, including pornographic images depicting animals and individuals engaging in sexual acts with a frog, snake, and dog, along with videos of child abuse, all stored on his phone.

Additionally, Sarpong distributed some of these images, reportedly sharing them with 36 individuals via WhatsApp.

Following his arrest, he was sentenced to three years in prison, along with restrictions on contact with children and internet usage.

Reports indicate that Sarpong, a 33-year-old British Army veteran, served in Afghanistan and suffered injuries, including being shot by the Taliban and later stabbed by a fellow soldier, leading to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
