By Alex Ababio

President Akufo-Addo has touted the achievement of Free Senior High School policy which was introduced by his Administration in September 2017, stating that he is proud of its results .

He was satisfied that the free Senior High School Program has made it possible that all Ghanaian children receive a minimum of Senior High School education in the country.

President Akufo Addo made this statement when he was Speaking at the 70th Anniversary celebration of Opoku Ware Senior School , OWASS in Kumasi.

He noted that the ” experiences of developed nations have shown that the most efficient way to create a society of opportunities and thereby guarantee the future of a nation is by investing in education and skills training of the youth”

Opoku Ware Senior High School was established 70 years ago in 1952. And to give meaning to its existence and achievements for the past years, memorable programme of activities involving both present and past students, backed by the general public was organised  to celebrate the milestone.

The year-long programme of activities was on the theme, “Seven Decades Of Leadership Through Self-Discipline”.

According to President Akufo-Addo, implementation of the Free Senior High School programme, which had provided a minimum of Senior High School education for one-point-six million Ghanaian children, is no mean achievement and that he was very proud of the policy and its results

The Headmaster of Opoku Ware Senior School, Reverend Father Stephen Owusu-Sekyere used the opportunity to recount  the achievement of the school since its establishment .

He, however, appealed to government to complete all projects under construction in the school to aid in accelerating effective and efficient learning experience in the school .
