Fake Doctor Performs Surgeries for 16 Years Without a Degree

adminBy adminOctober 31, 2023

Yet again, Kenya is thrust into the spotlight.

This time entangled in a case involving a fraudulent professional. It’s a fake doctor who, astonishingly, managed to practice medicine for nearly two decades without a valid degree.

This recent incident is on the heels of the arrest of Brian Mwenda, a phony lawyer who managed to win 26 cases despite a complete absence of legal training.

Kenya Medical Council Deregisters the Fake Doctor
The most recent reports reveal that David Nyawade Onyango, the fraudulent doctor, has been officially removed from the registry by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) after a 16-year stint practicing medicine without the necessary qualifications. What’s even more astonishing is that Nyawade falsely claimed to be a surgeon, despite not having the requisite undergraduate medical credentials.

In an official statement, the KMPDC clarified that David Nyawade Onyango, who is also known as ‘David Onyango Nyawade,’ is no longer authorized to practice as a medical doctor in Kenya.

However, the KMPDC did not provide further details about the reasons for David Nyawade Onyango’s deregistration.

“This is to inform the general public that the above-mentioned individual going by the name ‘David Nyawade Onyango’ or ‘David Onyango Nyawade’ has been deregistered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council and is hereby prohibited from practicing as a medical doctor in the Republic of Kenya,” the public notice stated.

A Growing Concern: Impostors Among the Professional Ranks
This development also coincides with the revelation by Eric Theuri, President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), about yet another imposter following a surge in reports of individuals posing as professionals. Sharon Adunya Atieno had been masquerading as a lawyer without the essential qualifications mandated by law.

Sharon’s arrest closely follows the exposure of Brian Mwenda. Mwenda recently appeared in court, where he faced six charges, including uttering a false document, creating a false document, and practicing without a certificate. During his court appearance before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina, Mwenda pleaded not guilty.
