You’re Just Not Being Fair To The Ashanti NDC Executives – Muntanka Mohammed Schools NDC National Leadership

By Alex Ababio

The Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti region Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka has expressed his dissatisfaction with the national executives of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, about how they always fail to adequately resource the party in the region, especially during the electioneering campaign time .

Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka who is the current Minority Chief Whip in Ghana’s Parliament noted that by their actions regarding how they resource the party in the region, the national executive have considerably failed to appreciate gigantic contributions of  Ashanti NDC  to the success of the party in general in any elections.

“Apart from Greater Accra region ,there is no region that gave NDC more votes than Ashanti region in the 2020 elections”

” We had more one hundred and sixty thousand (160,000) votes in the Ashanti region in the 2020 elections ”

Hon.Mohammed-MubaraMuntaka made this assertion when he was addressing leaders and members who had gathered at the forecourt of the Ashanti regional office of the NDC to commemorate the 30th anniversary celebration of the National Democratic Congress in Ghana.

He further stated, “now because of hard work in 2020 elections, NDC in the Ashanti region were able to increase our seats in parliament from three to four while on the other hand reducing NPP seats from 44 to 43.”, he noted

He ,however , stated that when the national executives of the party are allocating resources, “they would say even in the Ashanti region, we do not have many seats in parliament. So for instance, when they give one pick up vehicle to one smaller constituency, they will give the same number of pick up vehicle to the Ashanti region which has 47 constituencies. This is not fair ” , he stressed

He bemoaned that the Ashanti NDC has 47 constituencies and that it was always difficult working with scanty resources to achieve much in terms of polling more votes during elections.

“In the Ashanti region, we have forty seven constituencies, not even angels from heaven can use scanty resources, like using the same resources for instance meant for Savana with 7 constituencies, North East 5 constituencies, Oti region with 8 constituencies, or Volta region with 18 constituencies to get the votes or win those expected seats in parliament”

Hon. Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka argued that the NDC executives in region were hardworking and efficient in the management of the party .

” I can say that in terms of efficiency, many of the executives in the Ashanti region are more efficient than those in other constituencies in others regions”

He urged the part to target 7 constituencies in the Ashanti region, indicating even if they fail to get all the seven seats at least they should fight for six constituencies.

” It’s possible NDC can get over Eight Hundred Thousand Votes in the Ashanti region, from the six Hundred Thousand Votes it had in the last 2020 elections , but I think it requires
hardwork and unity ”

” If we want the NDC to improve it’s strength in the Ashanti region, we cannot continue to keep the region as one ,but strategically we can divide the Ashanti ndc to three regions with at least 15 constituencies each to make in roads . This way
It will be easy to manage
It and much more easy to monitor it ”

This is NPP stronghold. So, if this is their stronghold and you with 27 constituencies executives with little resources ,how would you be able to manage the 47 constituencies and compete with them for more votes.”, he said

Hon. Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, therefore, demanded that the NDC in the Ashanti region should be given more resources to effectively execute their programs .

,”If you take a look at the constituencies, it requires that If they are giving 1000 resources to Greater Accra Ndc , 2000 resources should be allocated to Ashanti NDC.

“If they are sending ten thousand to Volta region , twenty thousand should be sent to Ashanti region “, he stressed.

He explained that because NDC in the Ashanti region were not United ,they woukd go to Accra in different groups to lie and peddle forcehood against one another .
He lamented that this was the cause of their woes in the region .
“We should come together to fight NPP in order to win the 2024 elections.”, he said

He further cautioned the party members who are delegate to desist from pursuing money during their primaries and focus on building the party.

He urged the party to focus on people’s competency and not where they are coming from as Ashanti ,fanti or frafra when they are electing someone to lead any brunch of the party .

” If we reserve certain positions in the party for people from zongo for instance it means we want the party to collapse .”

” Especially in the Ashanti region, we only need someone who can bring us together.

Someone who can be honest to all of us.Someone who will lead us during difficult times at any time we are going for a battle with NPP .”

” During such times we are not going to look up to the person because of their skin colour , black or white ,whether they are short or tall or big.

” If someone for instance is propagating that we should elect some one from Asawase because the people from Asawase has the numbers , then we should know that person rather wants the party to collapse.

” It doesn’t matter if the person is from Bantama or Subin , provided they can lead us to victory, we should come together to support them.”, he stressed
