Auditor-General, PAC Urged To Probe Chief Of Staff’s Cash Giving Bing

Executive Director of the Alliance of Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson, has urged the Auditor-General and Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to start an investigation into the expenditure of the office of the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.

In a post on his virtual entertainment handle, he showed that the investigation should traverse the five years in which Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been in office.

As per him, the degree of “lavishness, indiscretions and extravagance ” exuding from the office of the Chief of Staff ” needs to be probed .”

To this end, he said the Auditor-General and PAC should audit the accounts of the office to know the source of the reckless “benevolence ” from the office and how monies are appropriately accounted for in the budgetary allocation to the office of the President.

 

“One of the spots which requires critical reviewing amidst this economic situation is the office of the Chief of Staff.

“For what I know, there’s no hen laying golden eggs in that foya yet the degree of lavishness, carelessness and excess that we continue to hear from that office leaves so much be desired .

“The renting of jets, the giving out of money to truant MPs, giving out money to celebrated, journalists and influencers and so on are totally attributed to this office who don’t accounts the pennies of the poor tax payers.

“For what is worth, we call on the Auditor General to commission an exceptional enquiry into the activities of the office of the Chief of Staff throughout the previous five years.

“A short time later we would expect that the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament would likewise continue to invite Auntie Frema to let us know the source of the crazy consideration we continue to hear from her office and how those monies are appropriately accounted for in the budgetary allocation to the office of the President,” Mensah Thompson posted on his Facebook wall.

It would be recalled that Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong in a meeting with Asaase Radio affirmed that the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Opare provided him with an amount of 120,000 to pay into the account of non-attrndent MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

Despite the fact that Kennedy Agyapong didn’t make reference to the cash, many reports indicated the sum was in the local currency.

He likewise claimed that the Chief of Staff worked with contracting of a personal luxury plane trip for the MP to return for the E-Levy vote.

 

The most recent charge against the Chief of Staff is by entertainment personality, Afia Schwarzenegger.

As per her, the Chief of Staff gave her family GH¢50,000 for the funeral service as well as catered for transportation of her late dad’s remains to Ghana.
