E-levy : We Made Over Gh¢1m From Just One Charging Entity In A Single Day – GRA

adminBy adminMay 9, 2022

Head of Project Unit at GRA, Isaac Kwabena Amoako noted that collection from a single charging entity added up to more than one million cedis in a single day.

“The letters we sent to the charging entity were that, after every 48 hours , they ought to send us the Money. So our most memorable Money ought to have come on Tuesday, however it didn’t come then we went to Wednesday and we saw some making endeavors. So on Thursday, we went on our inner framework [the Tax Application System] and we saw the invoices and we collected the invoices.

“As of the end of Thursday, we had the receipt of various charging entities and one of the charging elements which possesses over 70% of the populace had in abundance of GH₵1million for only one day. So expecting all the others are not paying and this entity alone sends GH₵1million consistently for 30 days. This implies we are getting GH₵30million each month from only one charging substance.

Mr. Kwabena Amoako disclosed this on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, on Monday, May 9, while giving a report on the duty following seven days of execution.

The e-Levy is 1.5% on all electronic exchanges.

It was carried out by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on May 1, 2022, after the E-levy Bill was passed by Parliament and in this way consented to by President Akufo-Addo.

The levy will apply to mobile money transfers done between accounts on a similar electronic money transfer and mobile money transfer from an account on one electronic money issuer to a recipient on another electronic money issuer .

Others are; transfer from bank to mobile money accounts and transfer from mobile money account to bank accounts.

Be that as it may, bank transfer on an instant pay digital platform or application originating from a bank account to a individual subject to an everyday limit, not entirely settled by the Minister of Finance.

The E-Levy was introduced by the government in the 2022 Budget on essential transaction connected with digital payments and electronic flatform transaction.

The rate would apply to electronic transaction that are more than GH¢100 day to day. This is not quite the same as the percentage charged by some telecom companies on mobile money transfers .
