Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Girlfriend, Hiding Body in Septic Tank

By Alex Ababio

Sunyani, Ghana – A 26-year-old man, Kwabena Adjei, has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend and concealing her body in a septic tank near the Bono Regional Fire Command at Sunyani Magazine.

The suspect, who later turned himself in to the police, claimed he was being haunted by the ghost of the deceased, a 19-year-old Nigerian woman identified only as Testimony. Adjei reportedly surrendered in the company of his uncle.

Tragic Dispute Turns Fatal

Sources say a heated argument between Adjei and his girlfriend led to the tragic incident. “During the altercation, the suspect allegedly elbowed the victim, causing her to lose consciousness. She died instantly,” an official familiar with the case disclosed.

The Sunyani Municipal Operations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), ADO II Ignatius Noekor, confirmed the incident, stating that Adjei kept the victim’s body in his room for three days before disposing of it.

Discovery of the Decomposed Body

According to ADO II Noekor, the police sought the assistance of the GNFS to retrieve the remains. “We had to flush water into the septic tank to bring the body to the surface,” he explained. The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition last Friday.

The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. Officials also confirmed that this was only the second time Testimony had visited Adjei before her untimely death.

Authorities are expected to conduct further forensic examinations as part of the ongoing probe.
